Quick Hits: Buccaneers Season Outlook

Last season the Buccaneers didn’t exactly blow teams away on the offensive side of the ball, scoring wise. Their running game was ranked around the middle of the pack and the passing game did manage to crack the top ten. Even with that, the Bucs did not manage to put a whole lot of points on the board, causing them to re-think their offensive situation. That’s why way before the draft, the Bucs acquired tight end Kellen Winslow from the Browns and drafted a quarterback with their first round pick. Assuming Caddilac Williams can fully bounceback from his injury and can make a huge difference in the running back, the offense should be just fine going into this season.

Defensively, the Buccaneers have always been known to play great team defense and it’s hard to see that changing one bit this season. They have the athletes and play makers and keeping teams out of the endzone is what they do best. Tampa Bay will need that defense to step-up and deliver again this season if they are to have a chance at making the playoffs. Last season, the Bucs finished the year with a 9-7 record and it wasn’t quite enough to get them into the playoffs. It’s looking as if 10 wins will definitely give you a great chance at sliding into the post-season, but as we seen in the AFC a year ago, there is no sure thing unless you win your division. Even teams that go 11-5 aren’t for certain that they’ll make the playoffs.
